HARMELEN, 1929: THE BEGINNING OF THE VAN DIJK GROUP

The rich history of the Van Dijk Group has its origins in Harmelen, in the year 1929. In a garage on the Kalverstraat, a small number of types of cars are being tinkered with at the time. A few years later, the Van Dijk Group became a dealer of MACK, and then in 1952 became a dealer of General Motors. A move to the other side of the street was the result.

In 1967 Van Dijk becomes an official Daf dealer and both passenger cars and trucks of this Dutch car brand can be sold. The Daf brand was replaced by the Volvo brand in 1980. A second branch is opened in Montfoort, called ‘Utrechtse Bedrijfsgarage’. In 1981, the Utrecht Company Garage moved from Montfoort to Utrecht, where from that moment on the name Van Dijk was also used. Shortly after, Trailerservice Veenendaal opens its doors.

At the end of the 80s, the building in Harmelen was exchanged for a brand new building in Woerden. Not much later, a branch in Culemborg was also added to the Van Dijk Group . In 2007, van Dijk Geldermalsen took over and the renovated building in Utrecht was taken into use. In the years that follow, the Van Dijk Group was voted best truck dealer in the Netherlands seven times.
